A visual language for the fight against the far-right

2025
Editorial Design / Layout / Corporate Design / Infographics

Since 2025, we are supporting Bundesverband Mobile Beratung e.V. (BMB), the federal association of mobile counseling teams against right-wing extremism in Germany, in various design projects. We overhauled their corporate design, developed various social media templates and designed, layouted and typeset various publications.

Überblick verschiedener Designarbeiten für den BMB

We have been working on various projects for the Bundesverband Mobile Beratung e.V. (BMB) since spring 2025.
At the beginning, the corporate design was evaluated and supplemented with an expanded color concept and secondary design elements. The logo and existing primary colors were not changed. The result is a color palette that remains politically neutral while offering numerous high-contrast combination options. A corporate design pattern serves as a recurring design element that can be used to effectively present the diverse BMB products within the visual brand. A comprehensive icon set also offers the client the opportunity to enhance its products in a neutral, modern, and cost-efficient way.
The innovations in the corporate design were documented in a mini style guide, which now serves as a design guide and a growing digital reference work.

In line with the updated corporate design, various social media templates were designed and implemented in the “Canva” tool so that the client can use them flexibly on their own.

We were responsible for the design, layout, and typesetting of the publication “Engagiert & demokratisch bleiben” (Remaining Committed & Democratic). The 68-page handbook deals with the danger posed by the far-right AfD party, provides background information, and, above all, offers numerous recommendations for action based on the practical experience of its local advisors. The layout created is intended to serve as a basis for subsequent publications, ensuring that BMB's signature style is recognizable across the various publications.

project facts

A corporate design extension must guarantee recognizability, expand the scope for action, and keep the target group in mind.

We want to enable project partners to work independently with our flexible templates. These must offer sufficient scope for varying content and corporate design consistency.

“As awareness of the threat to democracy grows, so does resistance to the normalization of right-wing positions.” [...] Most recently, more than 1.5 million people took to the streets after the CDU/CSU and AfD parliamentary groups voted together in January 2025. (p. 19 of the handout)

Taking a stand against the anti-democratic ideology of inequality espoused by the extreme right means defending these fundamental and human rights. (Local) politicians, teachers, political educators, as well as those in positions of responsibility in clubs, associations, foundations, and other institutions not only have the right to do so, they also have a duty to do so. In accordance with the Basic Law and human rights, they can never be “neutral.” (p. 33 of the handbook)

Neutrality does not mean indifference: organizations must continue to be able to take a clear stand against attacks on human dignity. (p. 39 of the guidelines)

Exchange, support, and solidarity make it easier to engage with the AfD. It is worthwhile to build networks with people and organizations that are politically attacked by the AfD, e.g., migrant organizations, feminist groups, or trade unions.
